Ha ha! Lt. Fuzz is an idiot!No, this doesn't fit with any of his prior characterization, but the gag was so funny Mort Walker Inc. just couldn't pass it up. Nor could they use Zero, a character specifically designed for this sort "Ha ha, he's stupid!" gag, because, um, they want to maintain the illusion that Camp Swampy functions like a real military camp? Or something?
Who is speaking in the second panel, anyway? It looks to me like Fuzz is referring to himself in the 3rd person. Is he dumb or just doing some kind of meta comedy?
ReplyDeleteYou know, I hadn't even noticed that the word bubble was just kind of hanging in space out there. It's clearly Miss Buxley's line. The whole issue could have been solved by merely pointing the bubble's arrow in the other direction. I'm going to go ahead and chalk this one up to laziness, which, of course, is nothing new for Mort Walker Inc.
