Of course, it's more likely that Billy was just masturbating the whole time.On a more serious note, I've mentioned before that the Sunday strips of The Family Circus are generally better than the dailies. And these follow-the-kids-around installments are probably the best, most creative things Bil Keane has ever done. So today's cartoon is actually pretty good, and it's only fair that I acknowledge that.
I sometimes wonder if these Keane strips (which, I agree, can be quite good) were influenced by this page from Bob Bolling's "The Long Walk," or if they're both borrowing from something else.
ReplyDeleteThe latter is probably more likely, since Bolling didn't start to have a cult following until quite recently.
The similarity is pretty uncanny. But, let's be honest here, the Keanes do not borrow. They, like God, create their worlds ex nihilo.
