Apparently, a lot of cartoonists wait until the last minute to do their taxes, worry about them very much, and find them very difficult.
Either that or a lot of cartoonists are lazy and can't come up with any original ideas.

The first time I did my taxes, I was really surprised at how easy it was. Comics, TV, etc always portray it as intermediate level calculus, and it's really just filling in numbers, and adding things (of course, I don't own my own business or have kids. A friend who is a contract employee says his taxes tripled in complexity once he became technically self-employed, but was still always able to do them on his own--and this friend sucks at math like I can't describe). Cathy always particularly baffled me, as I never understood why she was always fretting over receipts and spending habits with her accountant--he's an accountant, right? Not her personal money manager, so why should he care if she buys shoes or bathing suits or whatever?
