The ex post facto coloring of daily black-and-white comics really is an artistic disaster. How terrible must it feel to write a solid joke and then have it at least partially ruined by lazy coloring?

Betty: Wait! Why aren't there any red gumdrops on it?

Sally Forth: And what are those?
I've mentioned before that the fellow who draws Sally Forth is a relative genius for his decision to solve the foot-drawing problem by always dressing his characters' feet in socks. The person who colors Sally Forth apparently hasn't caught on however, leading to a situation in which the cartoonist's genius is more or less nullified, as a normal comics reader who doesn't pay close attention to these things* would simply see Hillary's feet in the first panel as yet another foot-drawing abortion.*read: virtually anyone who is not me.

Baby Blues: And brown--I shoulda rinsed the bucket first.
The coloring is correct in this comic. This hardly ever happens even when the coloring should be obvious, let alone when there's something tricky going on, as with this brown water that's not actually revealed to be brown until the last panel. I can only assume that Baby Blues is one of the few comics the colorist actually reads before going to work on it. Kirkman and Scott should feel both proud and grateful.

Mark Trail: I'm looking for a dalmation puppy, she may have been hit by a car...
I am genuinely surprised to learn that Sassy is a dalmatian puppy, and the guy who does the coloring probably was too, assuming the guy who does the coloring actually reads the comic.

Mark Trail: Mark manages to put the Parker camp in the distance and he heads to meet his friend, Ranger Buzz Miller.
Holy mackerel! Mark's friend, Ranger Buzz, sure has aged over the course of this very long day! But that is just what dealing with hippies does to a man!

Beetle Bailey: Overpower.
And so Sarge appears to be having an affair with Mrs. Halftrack. Since this goes against everything we know about Sarge, one can only assume that this is either an attempt to keep up appearances or a humorous coloring error.

Arlo and Janis: I knocked over the tomato sauce!!
The coloring is annoying and distracting, but this is very funny, if for no other reason than Janis' eyeballs.Speaking of Arlo and Janis, I was a bit too hard on it before. It's a very solid comic strip.
