I was lucky enough to catch the Jasper Johns retrospective "Cartooning Bastards Can Burn in Hell" at MoMA a few years ago... great stuff. And of course who can forget the famous incident when Paul Klee tried to garrote George Herriman with a piece of piano wire?
Wasn't Krazy Kat heavily influenced by the avant garde?
