Born Loser: I was referring to Rudolph and Frosty and the Grinch!
This comic is hilarious because a hack cartoonist who hates his characters and whose name I refuse to look up is suggesting that people like me who enjoy Christmas cartoons are stupid.
I can't even figure what point he's making here or who's supposed to be wrong. I guess the guy who speaks last is always wrong (rule of hack comic strips). But White Christmas is a terrible movie and Grinch is a classic, so the "point" is incredibly confusing.
In general the whole point of THE BORN LOSER is that Brutus is a contemptible, immature moron who's always wrong. That's why he's the ... born loser! Ha ha!
So I'm fairly sure we're supposed to take it that people who watch WHITE CHRISTMAS are smarter and more mature than people who watch GRINCH.
I suppose it's possible, however, that the cartoonist didn't mean it that way, as the strip itself isn't entirely clear. If that's the case, the problem is that when you have a character that's supposed to be a contemptible moron, readers are never going to take anything that character says seriously. And also that it's incredibly confusing.
