In fairness, Thel's crestfallen expression suggests that Keane Inc. really does find the whole "Christmas already!" thing annoying.
But it is indicative a more general contempt for the children, who are almost always wrong in Keaneland. I think this is one of the reasons everybody hates the Keane kids so much. Keane Inc. kind of hates them, too, and always sides with the parents.
Schultz had genuine respect for his child characters. Keane, not so much. Hence, FC cartoons such as this, in which the kids are depicted as everything that's wrong with society. Whereas in Peanuts the children are often acutely aware that something is amiss with their culture.
What does it say that 50 years ago, Charlie Brown was furious at people putting up Christmas decorations around this time of year, and now the Keanes are in favor of doing exactly that?
